Mission Statement

The Viva Mexico Film Festival (VMFF) aims to bring the best of modern day Mexican cinema to Australian audiences each year.  Our principal goals are to:

• promote the work of Mexico's most outstanding film-makers

• provide the Australian audience with a deeper insight into, and appreciation of traditional and contemporary Mexican culture through film

• provide the Mexican community in Australia a link to home by bringing a selection of some of Mexico's best films

• raise awareness and knowledge about Mexico in general, including  the diversity of its people, culture, landscapes and to showcase Mexico as an outstanding tourist destination.

The Viva Mexico Film Festival Australia was originally created by Jose Briones and Sarah Connor  together with a team of supporters such as Branding Gears, Mexico Tourism Board and volunteers who share a passion for Mexico, its people and its culture. Despite great effort, the VMFF came to life in 2015.

This year our vision is clear and the VMFF is back stronger than ever.

We’re currently on the hunt for volunteers in Melbourne and Perth for the Viva Mexico Film Festival Australia 2016.

If you are enthusiastic, punctual,  reliable and available  we would love you to join us! We have a wide range of tasks for our volunteers both in the lead up and to the Festival and during the Festival itself, so there is something for everyone.

In return, you’ll have fun, gain experience in running an international festival, meet lots of interesting people and will get to see some Mexican films for free!

Volunteers for the Viva Mexico Film Festival must:

-Be aged 18 years or over

-Be flexible, happy to work as part of a team

-Be contactable by email and phone.
